Built so consent can't be an afterthought.
Collar & Key is for consensual power exchange between adults. That subject demands more than a disclaimer, so consent, reversibility and safety are enforced by how the app works, not just described in a policy.
18 and over, without exception
Collar & Key is strictly for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we delete it and the associated data. If you believe a minor is using the app, email contact@vandbsoftware.com and we will act on it.
The app carries an adult age rating on both stores: 18+ on the App Store and 17+ on Google Play. Its store listing states the age restriction plainly. Being 18 or over is also a condition of our Terms of service, which you agree to when you create an account. We do not verify age at sign-up, so that requirement rests on you being straight with us. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we terminate it and delete the data.
The app is an organiser, not a content platform. It does not host, distribute or recommend pornographic material, and publishing sexually explicit imagery to any shared or community surface is prohibited. Photos you attach to your own private records stay private to you and, where you choose, your partner.
There is no matching, no partner search, no location-based discovery and no way to solicit contact from strangers. The app is used by people who are already in a relationship they have negotiated offline.
One person cannot change the terms for the other.
The most common way structured relationships go wrong is drift: expectations get added, tightened or reinterpreted without a clear moment of agreement. The app is designed to make that mechanically difficult.
-
Agreements need two signatures
A drafted agreement has no force. It binds only once both partners have signed it, and after signing its terms cannot be edited in place by either person.
-
Changes need acceptance
Altering a signed agreement means proposing an amendment. The other partner sees precisely what would change and what it replaces, and it takes effect only when they accept. A withdrawn clause is shown as withdrawn rather than quietly vanishing.
-
Scenes need both partners to confirm
Either partner can propose a session, but it isn't scheduled until the other confirms. Consent to a plan is never inferred from silence.
-
Limits are recorded, not remembered
Hard limits live in a structured list rather than in someone's memory of a conversation, and both partners' lists can be compared directly.
-
Consent is revocable
Either partner can pause the dynamic, leave it, stop sharing anything they previously published, or close their account outright. None of those actions requires the other person's permission.
The safeword is a feature, not a footnote
Your safeword is a setting on the dynamic itself, visible to both partners, not a line buried in a document that one of you has to remember to look up.
Calling the safeword during a session stops it immediately and moves straight into the aftercare plan you wrote in advance. The session is recorded as stopped, and the app uses no blame language around it anywhere.
Outside of a scene, either partner can pause the whole dynamic. Pausing suspends expectations rather than failing them: timers freeze, and tasks falling in that window are excused, not marked missed.
If something was decided unfairly, it can be corrected afterwards. The correction is recorded alongside the original rather than replacing it, so the history stays honest in both directions.
Collar & Key is not a substitute for talking to each other, and it is not a safety device. It records what you have agreed; it cannot judge whether an arrangement is healthy, whether consent is freely given, or whether an activity is safe to attempt. If you are being coerced, harmed or controlled against your will, please seek help from people and services equipped to provide it.
How shared content is handled
Most of the app is private. Where users can publish to a shared surface (the community and the Discover library), the following applies.
Community participation is opt-in. Your journals, interest lists, tasks and agreements are never published automatically, and publishing anything is a deliberate per-item action you can reverse.
Submissions to the shared library are screened against our content rules before they become visible to others. Content that is sexually explicit, depicts or promotes non-consensual activity, involves minors, is illegal, or targets a person with abuse is rejected.
Every piece of user-generated content and every profile carries a report control. Reports go to us directly. We review reported content and act on violations, including removing content and suspending or terminating accounts where warranted, within 24 hours of the report.
You can block another user. A blocked account cannot follow you, interact with your published content, or reach you through the app, and their content is hidden from you.
Anything urgent, or anything the in-app tools don't cover, goes to contact@vandbsoftware.com. That address is monitored and is the fastest way to reach us about a safety concern.
Sensitive by nature, treated that way
Because the app is for adult intimate relationships, what you enter may reveal information about your sex life. We handle it as special-category personal data under the GDPR and as sensitive personal information under comparable U.S. law: processed only to provide the features you use, on the basis of your explicit consent, which you can withdraw.
Your account can only open your own information and the dynamics you belong to. That limit is built into where your information is kept rather than added on afterwards, so it applies everywhere in the app.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use what you write to target advertising at you. There is no advertising in the app at all.
You can delete individual content, leave a dynamic, or delete your account and its data entirely, from within the app or from the account deletion page, without contacting us first.
